Visit of H. E. Daniel Ionita, Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova at ULIM
On May 17th, 2019, H.E. Daniel Ionita, Ambassador of Romania in the Republic of Moldova, accepted the invitation of the European Studies Center of ULIM in order to hold a public lecture in the context of events dedicated to the Day of Europe: “Presidency of Romania in EU Council: Objectives and Priorities”, having as participants the students of the faculties and the didactic staff.
The main subjects discussed during the lecture were about the actions of Romania, as president of the Council of European Union during January 1st – June 30th, 2019, the current political actions of EU, the preoccupations and the trends of EU in different fields, being possible to clarify certain aspects regarding the Informal Summit of the chiefs of states and governments of EU from Sibiu, held on May 9th, 2019. The students were encouraged by the diplomat to sustain and to promote the purposes, the values and the principles of EU in order to benefit of projects and programs of development for the Republic of Moldova.
H. E. Daniel Ioniat met also with the representatives of ULIM administration, led by the rector of ULIM, Associate Professor, Dr. Ilian Galben, university professor, Dr. hab., Elena Prus, vice-rector for International relations and Doctoral Studies, Associate Professor, Dr. Ludmila Coada, coordinator of the European Studies Center. The intensification of ULIM’s collaboration with the higher education institutions of Romania, the reforms from the sector of education and the trends of education evolution in the years to come were the main subjects discussed during the meeting. H. E. Daniel Ionita has enunciated the entire openness for the fruitful cooperation in the field of education and training. At the invitation of the managerial team, the high guest made a guided tour of educational and cultural spaces of ULIM: lecture halls of DIB, EU Information Center, European Studies Center, NATO Information center and Aula of Romania, inaugurated at ULIM in 2013 in the presence of the ex-minister of External Affairs of Romania, Titus Corlatean.
According to the information of the Ministry of External Affairs of Romania, H.E. Daniel Ionita has an admirable diplomatic career, being decorated by two Presidents of Romania with the National Order “Faithful Service” in the rank of Officer in March 2013; the National Order “Faithful Service” in the rank of Knight in December 2008; with National Order “For Merit” in the rank of Knight in December 2002. In May 2014, the Diocese of Northern Europe of Romanian Orthodox Church awarded him with the “Cross of North” – the highest distinction for laymen.
